The Magswitch Cobot SmartMagGrip E30 is an electrically switchable permanent magnet gripper specifically designed for use in collaborative robotics environments, with direct integration for Universal Robots and FANUC CRX via dedicated plug-ins.
A short power pulse is sufficient to switch the magnetic force; it is then held purely magnetically without a continuous current flow. This makes the gripper energy-efficient and inherently safe: in the event of a power failure or emergency stop, the component remains reliably held (fail-safe). Additionally, the entire compressed air supply, including valves and hoses, is eliminated – a real advantage in a cobot environment where quick changeovers and simple installation are essential.
The Cobot SmartMagGrip E30 possesses all the features of a typical Magswitch E-series tool. The VFO (Variable Field Output) technology allows for adjustable magnetic force from 0 to 100% – for example, for destacking, gripping individual parts, or gripping multiple parts. The integrated sensor technology detects or confirms whether the correct part has been gripped; parts are taught to the tool via a simple four-step teach-in process. With an ISO-9409-1-50 flange, straight and 45-degree mounting kits, as well as armor kits for bin-picking, the gripper is quickly ready for operation.

Stated forces were determined in a laboratory environment on SAE1018 steel (surface roughness 63 µin) with optimized pole shoes and do not represent a safe working load. Magswitch recommends a safety factor of SWL = 5:1 for most applications. Values may vary by ±5%.
The tool may only be operated in contact with a ferromagnetic target object.
