The Magswitch Plug-and-Play E50 (PPe50) is the more powerful version of the PPe series: an electrically switchable permanent magnet gripper for material handling and end-of-arm tooling with larger, heavier ferromagnetic components – controlled directly via a standard I/O block.
A short current pulse is sufficient to switch the magnetic force on or off – after which it is held purely magnetically, without continuous current flow. This makes the PPe50 energy-efficient and inherently safe: in the event of a power failure or emergency stop, the magnet does not release. In addition, the entire compressed air supply, including valves and hoses, is eliminated – a clear gain in simplicity and reliability, especially for power-intensive applications.
The PPe50 also features integrated part-present sensing via a dedicated output and reliably reports whether a component has been gripped starting at a material thickness of 0.3 mm. Status outputs and an LED color code indicate the condition at all times. Three mounting patterns on the top and side allow for flexible integration, and interchangeable pole shoes enable adaptation to different surfaces, including uneven ones. Customer-specific pole shoe geometries are available upon request.

Notes
Stated forces are ideal values, determined on a 200 x 200 mm SAE1018 steel sheet (surface roughness 63 µin) with standard pole shoes without an air gap – not a safe working load. Air gaps, contamination, material thickness, alloy, and component shape reduce the holding force. Use only non-magnetic fastening material made of stainless steel or aluminum for installation.
There are two versions (-A2 and -A4) that differ in pin assignment for the switch-on command. Please specify when ordering.
